Maseno University lost a student on Monday in a police-students confrontation that started around 5pm.
It is alleged that Joshua Mungai, a first year nursing student in the school of medicine was beaten by police during the event.
Students had staged their usual campaigns at the main gate disrupting motorist thus forcing the police to come in and clear the traffic.
The students however felt bitter when the police started hurling tear gas causes them to retaliate in their own usual way of throwing stones.
In order to clear the mess it is alleged that the police used a little bit of force by beating up some comrades.
Mungai was among those beaten and he succumbed to his untimely death while on the way to the hospital in Kisumu.
Two weeks ago the University lost another student, Collins Otiato, whose death is said to have been caused by excessive drinking of alcohol with friends.
None of the university’s officers has commented on the issue yet.
