The leaders, led by Deputy Governor Abdi Dagane – acting on the instructions of Governor Ali Korane – called for action to be taken against the police officers, who were allegedly sent by Mr Duale, for making innocent families homeless.

They accused Mr Duale, the Garissa Town MP, of making a habit of ‘intimidating, fault-finding and sabotaging the leadership of the county administration in Garissa’.

“We collectively assert that we would no longer stand his ineffectual holier-than-thou attitude and remind him to focus on his duties as the Township MP and not his presumed and self-avowed role of the region's 'political prefect',” one official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.

The county government has since instructed immediate reconstruction of the 2 permanent houses that belong to the orphans, which has been demolished.

The leaders said it was too early to fault the county government since it has been in power for about two years.

The resolve was a culmination of a serious of community meetings for two days.

The leaders involved were Garissa Governor Ali Bunow Korane, Garissa Senator Yussuf Haji, Deputy Governor Abdi Dagane, County Women MP Anab Mohamed Gure, Balambala MP Abdi Omar Shurie, Garissa County Assembly Speaker Ahmed Ibrahim Abass, County Assembly Majority Leader Mohamed Gabow, MCAs, CECMs and community members.
