Mwangi was among the students hailed by the Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha. His mother Christine Edna Kiama said that his son has been operating with two oxygen machines since he joined high school.

Her mother also added that Collins health impediments made him not to join his fantasy school where he had been invited, Utumishi Secondary School, saying that the school was far from him and that he was obliged to special care.

For that reason he was urged to join Nanyuki High School as a day scholar because of his situation for the school was close to his home in Ichunga estate where his parents would conveniently monitor his health.

"We have been taking him to school every morning and bringing him back home in the evening, “The school’s management has been very supportive," Mwangi's mother said.

Mwangi who's preference is to serve as a doctor said that he aspires to enrol in Nairobi University and proceed with pursuing his dream.
