Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has launched a scathing attack on National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga.Mutua said Raila should surrender if he is not ready for the repeat presidential election. The Governor said some of NASA’s demands to the IEBC cannot be implemented within the short period in which the repeat election is supposed to be conducted.Addressing supporters at Machakos Town on Wednesday, Mutua said despite some of the concerns being raised by NASA being genuine, there is no adequate time for proper implementation. He said IEBC is in a State of confusion, adding that the commission could be crippled even before it conducts the fresh presidential poll. The Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) Party leader said the country has to hold repeat presidential election within the period stipulated by law and as ordered by the Supreme Court.“NASA leaders must stop confusing the IEBC and allow the Wafula Chebukati-led commission to do its work properly as the law dictates,” said Mutua, as quoted by the People Daily. The county boss said the country is stuck and any attempts to delay the repeat election will be disastrous to the economy. He noted that investors are shying away as a result of the political uncertainty being witnessed in the country.Mutua at the same time warned politicians against making statements that could incite Kenyans to violence. He said politicians across the divide must respect the rights and interests of their competitors.Raila has threatened to boycott the repeat elections if the demands he has made are not fully addressed.NASA is pushing for the removal of top IEBC officials who they claim are responsible for the bungled August 8 presidential election.
