The National Super Alliance (Nasa) leaders in Uasin Gishu County have reiterated that they are ready for the repeat presidential elections scheduled to be held on October 17.

The Nasa leaders have, however, said they will only go to the polls if IEBC officials linked to be bungled August 8 elections whose results were later nullified by the Supreme Court are not part of the team to be in charge of the fresh elections.

Addressing the press at an Eldoret hotel on Wednesday, the leaders led by North Rift Nasa presidential campaigns coordinator Kipkorir Menjo and Kiplombe MCA Ramadhan Ali said they are already engaging in grassroots campaign to drum up support for their candidate Raila Odinga.

"Those claiming we don't want an election are wishful thinkers because we are ready for the polls and this is why we are doing campaigns and holding regular meetings to strategise on how to increase our votes," said Ali, the only ODM MCA in the county considered a key Jubilee stronghold.

"We are ready for the elections but we cannot allow those IEBC officials who mismanaged the August 8 polls to still be in charge as we will end up with the very same problems that led to the nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta's win," Menjo added.

Nasa has been calling for the exclusion of IEBC chief Executive officer Ezra Chiloba and other top Secretariat officials whom them claim played a role in the irregularities witnessed in the August 8 Presidential results.
