Former Chase Bank senior managers were arraigned in Court, over conspiracy to defraud the bank Sh1.6 billion

Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku, credit general manager James Mwenja, finance general manager Makarios Agumbi and Duncan Gichu, all former Chase Bank employees, however denied the charge, Thursday.

The Magistrate asked them to pay cash bail of Sh2 million each, or deposit Sh5 million bond to court before they are released.

Former chairman Zafrullah Khan failed to appear in court, alongside the three for the mentioning of the case.

His lawyer Cecil Miller however told the court that Khan's doctor recommended bed rest for about six weeks for him.

They are accused of committing the offence between August 28, 2009, and March 31, 2016, at the bank’s headquarters in Nairobi.
